What to Prepare Before Starting Your Website Project: A Checklist
A simple checklist of what to gather before your website project starts — content, logo, examples and decisions — so the build moves faster.

In this article 7 sections
A website project moves fastest when a few things are ready before design begins. You don't need everything on this list on day one, but the more you have, the sooner your site can go live.
1. Your business basics
- To do: Business name, as you want it shown
- To do: A one-line description of what you do
- To do: Phone number, WhatsApp number and email address
- To do: Address or service area, if customers need it
- To do: Opening hours, if they matter to customers
2. Brand material
- To do: Your logo, ideally as a high-resolution file (SVG, PNG or the original design file)
- To do: Brand colours, if you already use specific ones
- To do: Photos of your work, team, products or premises
If you don't have a logo yet, that's fine — it can be designed as part of the project.
3. Pages and content
Make a simple list of the pages you want. A typical small-business site has:
- Home
- About
- Services (sometimes one page per service)
- Portfolio or gallery
- Contact
For each page, write a few rough notes about what it should say. They don't need to be polished; we can shape them into clear web copy.
4. Features you need
Tick what applies:
- To do: Contact or enquiry form
- To do: WhatsApp button
- To do: Online payments
- To do: Product catalogue or online store
- To do: Booking or appointment requests
- To do: A blog you can post to
- To do: Content you can edit yourself
5. Examples you like
Collect two or three websites you like — they don't have to be in your industry. Note what you like about each: the layout, the colours, how easy it is to use. This is the quickest way to agree on a direction.
6. Domain and hosting
- To do: Do you already own a domain name? Note where it's registered.
- To do: Do you have hosting? If not, we can set it up for you.
7. Budget and timeline
Decide on a budget range and any hard deadline, such as a launch or event date. Both help us recommend the right package from the start — see our pricing for starting prices.
